General description

Vanillin, a phenolic aldehyde, finds its use in microbiological applications, particularly in the formulation of biologic products where flavoring or masking agents are required. While its primary role in biologics is minimal, it serves as an excipient to improve the palatability of oral biologic formulations. Vanillin′s safety profile ensures its suitability for inclusion in biologic products designed for human consumption.

The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) provides quality standards for biologics to ensure their safety, efficacy, and quality throughout the manufacturing process. These standards assist manufacturers in adhering to regulatory requirements and help safeguard public health by reducing risks associated with biologics.

Vanillin is an aromatic compound, and is used for flavoring foods. It is has biogenetic relationship to phenylpropanoid pathway. It is mostly used in foods, beverages, perfumes and pharmaceuticals.

Application

It has been used as reference standard in calibrating hot stage; during thermomicroscopic investigation performed with optical polarizing microscope; usually equipped with a hot stage and temperature controller.
