Tubocurarine hydrochloride pentahydrate has been used as a acetylcholinesterase inhibitor (Ach) inhibitor in myotubes,[1] muscle[2] and as neuromuscular junction blocker in zebra fish embryos.[3]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Tubocurarine is a muscle relaxant[4] and a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist.[5] It can induce neuromuscular blocking.[6]

Preparation Note

Tubocurarine hydrochloride pentahydrate is soluble in water at 50 mg/ml (with heat as required) and yields a clear to slightly hazy, colorless to yellow solution. It is also soluble in methanol and ethanol.
