Barium is a reactive, soft electropositive metal with a body-centered cubic crystal structure. It can be produced in a vacuum by reducing its oxide with aluminum. It has medium-specific weight and good electrical conductivity. It is widely used in alloying, removing unwanted gases from vacuum tubes, and as a reducing agent.

애플리케이션

Barium can be used as a precursor to synthesize Ba₃Bi_6.67Se₁₃,Ba₃Bi₆PbSe₁₃, and Ba₃Bi₆SnSe₁₃.

It can be used as a dopant for Pb²⁺replacement in perovskite films. The addition of barium enhances the power conversion efficiency of organic-inorganic lead halide solar cells.

Critical for the synthesis of pure Ba₂₁M₂O₅H_X (M = Ge, SI, Ga, In, Tl) suboxide Zintl phases.³
