Arginine is an amino acid with a basic side group. In liver, arginine is cleaved to ornithine and urea.[1] Isotope labeled amino acids are required for the production of isotopically labeled proteins.[2][3][4]

L-Arginine-15N4 hydrochloride has been used as a supplement for growing rat hybridoma to generate 15N-labeled monoclonal antibody against GPIHBP1 (glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored HDL binding protein 1).[5]
