Glyght is a benzodiazepine-containing azobenzene compound that acts as a light-controlled negative allosteric modulator that is selective to glycine receptors. It is a powerful and effective compound that can operate in vivo. Glyght attaches to an allosteric site within the interface between the extracellular and transmembrane domains.[1] It is an effective tool for researchers since it has broad activity in both homo- and heteromeric GlyRs across several species of fish and mammals. Moreover, Glyght is photo-switchable at 365 nm for trans-cis isomerization and 455 to 530 nm for cis-trans isomerization.
