General description

2-(Trimethylsilyl)-2-cyclohexen-1-one is a silyl enone.

Application

The following silyl enone can be converted into a highly useful cyclohexyne precursor as reported by the Garg and DuBois groups. The resulting silyltriflate adduct can be subjected to various dienes and dipolarophiles in the presence of Cesium Fluoride.
