General description
Fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF-23) is also called Phosphatonin and Tumor-derived hypophosphatemia-inducing factor. FGF-23 belongs to the heparin-binding growth factors family and has several important functions including: regulation of phosphate homeostasis, inhibition of renal tubular phosphate transport, upregulation of EGR1 expression, regulation of vitamin-D metabolism, and negative regulation of osteoblast differentiation and matrix mineralization. FGF-23 is expressed in osteogenic cells, adult trabecular bone, osteocytes and flattened bone-lining cells (inactive osteoblasts). Defects in FGF23 can lead to autosomal dominant hypophosphataemic rickets (ADHR) and hyperphosphatemic familial tumoral calcinosis (HFTC).
Immunogen
Corresponding to human FGF23.
Application
Anti-FGF23 Antibody, clone 278-2 is a mouse monoclonal antibody & validated for use in western blotting.
