General description

Cerium(IV) oxide-gadolinium doped powder (10 mol% gadolinium doped) (GDC-10) is an electrolytic material with high oxygen-ion conductivity, which operates at low temperatures. It can be prepared by a variety of methods such as sol-gel, wet chemical process, co-precipitation, hydrothermal and other combustion routes.[1][2]
Gadolinium doped ceria may be prepared by cation complexation sol-gel technique. XRD, specific surface area, morphology has been described in a study.[2] Higher oxygen ion conductivity of GDC over zirconia-based materials makes it a preferable choice for some components of SOFCs.[3]
We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which adhere to one or more of The 12 Principles of Greener Chemistry. This product has been enhanced for energy efficiency. Click here for more details.

Application

Gadolinium doped ceria (GDC) may be used as an intermediate temperature electrolyte for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) at elevated temperatures.[4][2]
