Specificity
Clone 2G23 is a ZooMAb® rabbit recombinant monoclonal antibody that specifically detects Selenoprotein P. It targets an epitope within 23 amino acids from the C-terminal half.
Immunogen
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to 23 amino acids from the C-terminal half of human Selenoprotein P.
Application
Quality Control Testing
Evaluated by Western Blotting in HeLa cell lysate.
Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:10,000 dilution of this antibody detected Selenoprotein P in HeLa cell lysate.
Tested applications
Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin) Analysis: A 1:100 dilution from a representative lot detected Selenoprotein P in human kidney tissue sections.
Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:100 dilution from a representative lot detected Selenoprotein P in HepG2 cells.
Affinity Binding Assay: A representative lot of this antibody bound Selenoprotein P peptide with a KD of 3.158 x 10-8 in an affinity binding assay.
Note: Actual optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user as specimens, and experimental conditions may vary with the end user

Anti-Selenoprotein P, clone 2G23 ZooMAb®, Cat. No. ZRB1020, is a Rabbit monoclonal antibody that target Selenoprotein P and is tested for use in Affinity Binding Assay, Immunocytochemistry and Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin), and Western Blotting.
Target description
Selenoprotein P (UniProt: P49908; also known as SeP) is encoded by the SELENOP (also known as SELP, SEPP1) gene (Gene ID: 6414) in human. Selenoprotein P is a secreted glycoprotein that is synthesized mainly in the liver and secreted into the plasma. It contains most of the selenium in plasma. It is synthesized with a signal peptide (aa 1-19), which is subsequently cleaved off in the mature form. Secreted form of selenoprotein P is made up of two domains. The larger N-terminal domain contains one selenocysteine (U) in a U-x-x-C redox motif and the shorter C-terminal domain contains nine selenocysteines. It is shown to bind to heparin in a pH-sensitive manner at the heparin-binding site in its N-terminal region that contains two histidine residues that become protonated, and therefore can bind heparin. Selenoproteins provide a key defense against oxidative stress, as many of these proteins participate in oxidation-reduction reactions neutralizing reactive oxygen species, where selenocysteine residues act as catalytic sites. Selenoprotein P is removed from plasma by glomerular filtration by endocytosis mediated by LRP2 in the proximal tubule epithelium. This ZooMAb® recombinant monoclonal antibody, generated by our propriety technology, offers significantly enhanced specificity, affinity, reproducibility, and stability over conventional monoclonals. Physical form
Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS with 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon. Please follow the recommended reconstitution procedure in the data sheet to dissolve the semi-solid, bead-like, gel-appearing material. The resulting antibody solution is completely stable and functional as proven by full functional testing. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 μL.
Reconstitution
Reconstitute lyophilized antibody pellet with 25μL of ultrapure water or Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS). Please refer to our reconstitution protocol and the specific application guidance on the suggested starting dilutions and sample type.
Storage and Stability
Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 μL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.
