General description
Bromopentacarbonylmanganese(I)is an organomanganese compound with a central manganese atom at its core, enclosed by five carbon monoxide ligands and one bromine atom. It is commonlyused as a reagent in organic synthesis, particularly in carbonylationreactions. It is also used as a precursor for the preparation of various manganesecomplexes.
Application
Bromopentacarbonylmanganese(I) can be used as:
- A precursor to synthesize manganese complex, [Mn(CO)5H], which was then used as a catalyst in the reduction of levulinic acid (LA) to methyltetrahydrofuran (MTHF) and the reductive amination of LA to N-substituted pyrrolidines.
- A precursor to prepare Mn(I) complexes bearing bifunctional ligands, which are used as catalysts for the transfer-hydrogenation of various ketones and imines using 2-propanol as the hydrogen donor.
- A catalyst in the selective C2-H activation reactions.
