General description

tert-Butylmethyl ether, also known as MTBE, is added to gasoline to increase its oxygen content. It is used as a solvent in gas chromatography (GC) for the analysis of various compounds, including gasoline components and their degradation products.

Application

  • Bromate ion chromatography standard: Employed in the trace determination of disinfection by-products in drinking water, enhancing water safety assessments and regulatory compliance using cyclic ion chromatography with large-volume direct injection (Zhu et al., 2023).

  • Pharmaceutical bromate analysis: Used in the ultra-trace determination of oxyhalides in marine waters treated with ozone, vital for environmental monitoring and ensuring aquacultural water quality using direct injection ion chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (Sanz Rodriguez et al., 2021).

  • IC bromate calibration standard: Applied in the safety evaluation of bottled water, specifically for the determination of bromate and other oxyhalides, to meet health standards and improve public safety measures (Djam et al., 2020).

  • Bromate detection in biotech: Utilized in direct injection methods for robust analysis of trace-level bromate and bromide in drinking water, crucial for ensuring compliance with health regulations (Lawal et al., 2010).

  • High-purity bromate IC reagent: Integral in the rapid simultaneous analysis of iodoacetic acids, bromoacetic acids, bromate, and other halogenated compounds in water, supporting environmental monitoring and toxicological research (Shi et al., 2009).
