Biochem/physiol Actions

trans-2-Phenylcyclopropylamine acts as an inhibitor of lysine-specific demethylase 1 (LSD1). It exhibits anti-depressant and anxiolytic activity. Tranylcypromine shows therapeutic effects against mood and anxiety issues. It also exhibits anti-osteoclastogenic effects through monoamine oxidase-A (MAO-A). Tranylcypromine may play a role in bone remodeling in mice.
Non-selective MAO-A/B inhibitor.
