An 18-carbon, ω-3 fatty acid which is a dietary precursor to eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Stearidonic acid is present in small amounts in seed oils.
Stearidonic acid is an 18-carbon containing polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA). It belongs to the class of ω-3 fatty acids, which are dietary precursors to eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).[1][2] Stearidonic acid is present in small amounts in seed oils.[3]
