General description

Triethylamine hydrochloride can be used as a:
  • Catalyst to synthesize diphenylmethane via Friedel-Crafts reaction of benzene with benzyl chloride.
  • Reactant in the ionic liquid-catalyzed synthesis of quaternary ammonium salts with dialkyl carbonates.
It can also be used as a proton donor:
  • For the titanocene (III)-catalyzed intramolecular ring-opening arylation of epoxides.
  • In intramolecular Kinugasa reaction to synthesize β-lactams.
