General description
PEA (Phenylethyl Alcohol) Agar is a nutrient rich medium designed for the selective isolation of gram-positive microorganisms especially Streptococci and Staphylococci spp. Phenylethyl alcohol in the medium inhibits the growth of gram-negative microbes and associated fungi in test samples.
PEA agar exhibits extreme inhibition towards samples containing swarming Proteus spp.
