Gene Information

human ... TRIM3(10612)

General description

Tripartite motif-containing protein 3 (UniProt O75382; also known as Brain-expressed RING finger protein, RING finger protein 22, Ring finger protein 97, Tripartite motif protein TRIM3, Tripartite motif-containing 3) is encoded by the TRIM3 (also known as BERP, HAC1, RNF22, RNF97) gene (Gene ID 10612) in human. TRIM3 belongs to a family of more than 70 TRIM/RBCC proteins characterized by their shared tripartite motif structure, also known as the RBCC (RING finger, B-box, and coiled-coil) domain. The B-box and coiled coil regions are believed to participate in protein-protein interactions and formation of macromolecular complexes. TRIM proteins are involved in diverse cellular processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, oncogenesis, and apoptosis. The presence of a RING domain suggests that TRIM proteins function as E3 ubiquitin ligases. TRIM3 is reported to catalyze the transfer of ubiquitin from UbcH5a to p21, a protein necessary for the proliferation of a subset of PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor)-transformed proneural glioma cells. Loss of TRIM3 heterozygosity is found in more than 10% of human GBMs (glioblastomas), while reducing TRIM3 expression facilitates tumor development and accelerates the progression of oligodendroglioma in a mouse model.

Immunogen

GST-tagged recombinant protein corresponding to the internal fragment of human TRIM3.

Application

Anti-TRIM3 Antibody, clone 13D12.1 is an antibody against TRIM3 Antibody for use in Western Blotting and Immunohistochemistry.
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:250 dilution from a representative lot detected TRIM3 in mouse brain and human skeletal muscle tissue.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in HEK293 cell lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: 0.5 µg/mL of this antibody detected TRIM3 in 10 µg of HEK293 cell lysate.
