Specificity

Clone 04A04 is a mouse recombinant monoclonal antibody that detects APOBEC3A/B/G. It targets an epitope within 29 amino acids from the C-terminal region.

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to 29 amino acids from the C-terminal of human APOBEC3B.

Application

Quality Control Testing

Evaluated by Western Blotting in BT-474 cell lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution of this antibody detected APOBEC3A/B in BT-474 cell lysate.

Tested Applications

Western Blotting Analysis: A representative lot detected APOBEC3A/B/G in Western Blotting application (Petljak, M., et al. (2022). Nature. 607(7920):799-807; Dananberg, A., et al. (2024). Methods Cell Biol. 182:313-327).

Target description

DNA dC->dU-editing enzyme APOBEC-3A/-3B/-3G (UniProt: P31941/Q9UH17/Q9HC16) is encoded by the APOBEC-3A/-3B/-3G gene (Gene ID: 200315/9582/) in human. The APOBEC3 family of cytosine deaminases catalyze the deamination of cytidine to uridine in single-stranded DNA and RNA. There are seven APOBEC3 enzymes: A3A, A3B, A3C, A3D, A3F, A3G, and A3H. They play essential roles in innate immunity by restricting by restricting the replication of various viruses. On the other hand, their aberrant activities can drive mutagenesis of virus and cancer genomes. A3 proteins have been implicated in the evolution of viruses, causing severe manifestations such as drug resistance and/or immune evasion. (Ref: Jonathan, M., and Ikeda, T., (2023), Front. Virol., 3:1332010)
