General description
Inulinases are classified as exoinulinases and endoinulinases.
Application
Inulinase from Aspergillus niger has been used as a glycoside hydrolase (GH) to study its potential to disperse bacteria (P. aeruginosa and S. aureus) from microbial biofilms using a polymicrobial well-plate model.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Inulinase hydrolyses inulin to produce oligosaccharides and liberate fructose. It also splits the terminal fructose units into sucrose and raffinose.
Inulinase is used in high-fructose syrup, which has therapeutic applications. Inulinase is reported to have high activity toward sucrose.
Unit Definition
1 U corresponds to the amount of enzyme which releases 1 μmol of reducing sugar (measured as fructose) per minute at pH 4.1 and 37°C from inulin

The present work aims to provide the basic characterization of sol-gel immobilized inulinase, a biocatalyst configuration yet unexploited, using as model system the hydrolysis of inulin to fructose. Porous xerogel particles with dimensions in slight excess of 10 μm were obtained

Among issues susceptible to hamper a reliable measurement of inulin clearance, those regarding the dosage of inulin are largely neglected. We have compared the analytical performances of 2 commonly used methods of inulin dosage (one "acid" and one "enzymatic" method)

Easy and low-cost protein purification methods for the mass production of commonly used enzymes that play important roles in biotechnology are in high demand. In this study, we developed a fast, low-cost recombinant protein purification system in the methylotrophic yeast

Inulin is a polysaccharide composed mainly of D-fructose units and is the most reliable indicator of the glomerular filtration rate. We have proposed an inulin detection method that involves the hydrolysis of inulin to D-fructose using inulinase and the selective
