Application

6-Phosphogluconic acid has been used in a study to assess a spectrophotometric method for the determination of creative phosphokinase and myokinase. [1] It has also been used in a study to investigate the reversible enzymatic sythesis of diphosphopyridine nucleotide and inorganic pyrophosphate. [2]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphogluconic acid is an intermediate in the pentose phosphate pathway.

Preparation Note

Prepared by a modification of the procedure of Seegmiller, J.E., et al., J. Biol. Chem., 192, 175 (1951).
