General description

Melanoma-associated antigen 1 (MAGE-A1) is one of the melanoma associated antigens (MAAs). MAGE-A1 is highly expressed in testis and some human solid tumors such as melanoma, brain tumors of glial origin, neuroblastoma, non-small cell lung cancer, breast, gastric, colorectal, ovarian and renal cell carcinomas.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide derived from the C-terminus of human MAGE-A1 protein.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Members of MAGE family play a vital role in maintaining normal cellular physiology. Melanoma-associated antigen 1 (MAGE-A1) serves as a target antigen of patient-derived CD8+ T cells in melanoma. It might be potential target for treating melanoma patients.
