General description

Delamanid is an anti-tuberculosis agent derived from the nitro-dihydro-imidazooxazole class of compounds that inhibits mycolic acid synthesis of bacterial cell wall. A limitation of dasabuvir is the lower potential for cross-genotypic activity as the binding sites are poorly preserved across HCV genotypes.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Delamanid is an antimycobacterial agent that inhibits mycolic acid synthesis, an essential component of the cell wall of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Inhibition of mycolic acid synthesis leads to the disruption of cell wall structure and integrity, and ultimately, bacterial cell death.
