Application

4-Methoxybenzyl chloride can be used as a reactant:
  • To synthesize 4-methoxybenzyl esters by reacting with cyclic anhydrides.[1]
  • In the mono-alkylation of trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane.[2]
It can also be used as a:
  • Protecting group for amino acids during peptide synthesis using triethylamine as a base.[1]
  • Co-catalyst in the intramolecular carboamination of aminodienes to N-heterocyclesvia benzyl-group transfer.[3]
