General description

Bedaquiline fumarate is an antibioitc with antimycobacterial properties. Bedaquiline fumarate a fumarate salt prepared from equimolar amounts of bedaquiline and fumaric acid. It has a role as an antitubercular agent and an ATP synthase inhibitor.

Application

Bedaquiline Fumarate has also been studied for its potential use in bioluminescence imaging, due to its ability to bind to a reporter protein and enhance its luminescence signal. This has potential applications in a variety of biological research areas, such as protein-protein interactions, drug discovery, and disease modeling.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Bedaquiline Fumarate is an antimycobacterial agent that inhibits mycobacterial ATP synthase, an enzyme essential for energy metabolism in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Inhibition of ATP synthase disrupts the energy production of the bacteria and leads to their death. Bedaquiline Fumarate is active against mycobacteria.
